Your suit, step by step

Our made-to-measure process is personal, precise and straightforward. From the first conversation to the final fitting, we guide you through each decision and make sure the finished garment works for your body, style and purpose.

Consultation

We begin by discussing what you need from the garment. This may include the occasion, your working environment, the season, how often it will be worn and the clothes you plan to wear with it.

You do not need to arrive with a fixed design or knowledge of tailoring. Bring references if you have them, or simply tell us how you would like to feel in the finished garment.

Cloth and design

Next, we help you select a suitable cloth from our British and Italian collections. We consider weight, texture, durability, drape and colour, narrowing the options to those best suited to your needs.

We then define the design, including jacket style, lapels, pockets, lining, buttons and trouser details. Every option is explained clearly and considered as part of the complete garment.

Measurement and assessment

We take a detailed set of measurements and assess posture, balance and proportion. These observations allow us to adapt the base pattern more intelligently than measurements alone.

The aim is to create a clean silhouette that feels comfortable when standing, sitting and moving.

Your first fitting

When the garment arrives at our Shoreditch studio, you return for a fitting. We assess the overall shape and identify any refinements needed through the jacket, trousers and sleeves.

This stage is about more than checking whether the garment fits. We consider how the cloth falls, how the proportions work together and how you feel wearing it.

Final adjustments

Our team completes the required adjustments and hand finishing in London. Depending on the garment and the changes required, a further fitting may be recommended before completion.

Collection

At collection, we check the final fit and talk you through care and pressing. Your measurements and preferences are retained, giving us a strong foundation for future commissions.

The result is a garment made for your proportions, shaped by your choices and finished with the attention of our London studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the process take?

It depends on the garment, the cloth and the fittings involved, so we give you an honest timeline at your first consultation. If you are working to a fixed date, tell us when you enquire and we will plan around it.

Do I need to know what I want before I start?

No. Bring references if you have them, or simply tell us how you would like to feel in the finished garment — the consultation is designed to find the direction together.

How many fittings are involved?

A first fitting when the garment arrives at the studio, then final adjustments — and a further fitting is recommended when the changes call for it. Nothing is rushed.

What cloths can I choose from?

Our British and Italian collections. We consider weight, texture, durability, drape and colour, narrowing the options to those best suited to your needs.

What details can I personalise?

Jacket style, lapels, pockets, lining, buttons and trouser details among much else — every option explained clearly and considered as part of the complete garment.

Are my measurements kept?

Yes. Your measurements and preferences are retained at collection, giving us a strong foundation for future commissions.

Is made to measure different from bespoke?

Made to measure adapts a proven pattern to your proportions and preferences; bespoke begins with an individual pattern drawn from scratch. We will advise honestly which route suits your commission.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes — everything is by appointment at our Shoreditch studio, 25a Pitfield Street, London N1 6HB, so we can give you our full attention. Call 020 7250 3569 or use the contact page to arrange a time.
