Specialist hands for the wardrobe you live in

Alterations can transform how a garment looks, feels and performs. From a simple adjustment to a more involved recut, our Shoreditch team applies specialist tailoring knowledge to improve the clothes already in your wardrobe.

Precision adjustments

We alter suits, jackets, trousers, shirts, coats and casual garments. Common requests include adjusting sleeves and hems, refining waists and seats, reshaping jackets, tapering trousers and correcting overall balance.

During your fitting, we assess the garment on your body rather than treating each adjustment in isolation. A sleeve length, trouser break or jacket waist only works when it is considered as part of the complete silhouette.

Repairs and restoration

Well-made clothing deserves a longer life. Where possible, we can repair damage, replace worn components and restore garments that carry practical or personal value.

Some pieces require more than a minor adjustment. Our team can advise whether a garment can be successfully recut or redesigned, and will be honest when the construction or available cloth limits what can be achieved.

An experienced eye

The difference between an adequate alteration and an excellent one often lies in judgement. We consider proportion, posture, cloth and construction before recommending any work.

You will receive clear guidance on what should be changed, what should remain untouched and the result you can reasonably expect.

Your fitting

Bring the shoes, shirt or other garments you expect to wear with the item whenever possible. This helps us assess the correct length and balance during your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can you alter?

Suits, jackets, trousers, shirts, coats and casual garments. Common requests include adjusting sleeves and hems, refining waists and seats, reshaping jackets, tapering trousers and correcting overall balance.

How do you assess an alteration?

On your body, not in isolation. A sleeve length, trouser break or jacket waist only works when it is considered as part of the complete silhouette.

Can you repair or restore older garments?

Where possible, yes — we repair damage, replace worn components and restore garments that carry practical or personal value.

Can any garment be recut?

Not always, and we will be honest about it. Our team will advise whether a garment can be successfully recut or redesigned, and where construction or available cloth limits what can be achieved.

What should I bring to my fitting?

Bring the shoes, shirt or other garments you expect to wear with the item whenever possible. This helps us assess the correct length and balance during your appointment.

Will you tell me if an alteration isn't worth it?

Yes. You will receive clear guidance on what should be changed, what should remain untouched and the result you can reasonably expect.

How long do alterations take?

It depends on the work involved — a simple adjustment is quicker than a recut. We will give you an honest timescale at your fitting, and tell us if you are working to a date.

Will I feel comfortable during fittings?

Your comfort and boundaries matter throughout. We explain each stage, listen to your preferences and never make assumptions about your body or identity — tell us anything that would make your appointment easier.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes — everything is by appointment at our Shoreditch studio, 25a Pitfield Street, London N1 6HB, so we can give you our full attention. Call 020 7250 3569 or use the contact page to arrange a time.
