From Refinement to Transformation

We alter suits, dresses, coats, jackets, trousers, shirts and occasion wear. Luxury, vintage and sentimental pieces are handled with particular care.

Alterations can return a favourite garment to regular wear, adapt a treasured piece to your changing style or unlock the potential of something that has never fitted correctly.

The finished garment should feel comfortable, balanced and natural on your body. Familiar, but transformed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of garments can Orhan alter?

We alter suits, dresses, coats, jackets, trousers, shirts and occasion wear. Almost any garment can be reshaped or refined, and we will tell you honestly what is achievable at your fitting.

Do you alter clothes that were not made by Orhan?

Yes. Most of the garments we alter come from other makers, from high street favourites to designer pieces. Whatever the label, the garment is considered as a whole before we recommend any work.

Can you work on luxury, vintage or sentimental pieces?

Yes — these are handled with particular care. Delicate cloths, linings, beading and ageing seams all shape how we approach the work, and we will talk you through our recommendations before anything begins.

How does an alteration appointment work?

Your appointment begins with a fitting and an open conversation about what feels wrong, what you would like to change and how you want the garment to sit. We explain what is possible, recommend the adjustments that will make the greatest difference and agree the work with you before it begins.

Can a garment be let out as well as taken in?

Often, yes. It depends on the cloth held in the garment's seams and hems, which we check at your fitting. Where there is enough fabric to work with, waists, seats, sleeves and hems can usually be released.

How long do alterations take?

It depends on the work involved — a simple hem is quicker than reshaping a jacket. We will give you an honest timescale at your fitting, and if you have a fixed date, tell us when you book so we can plan around it.

Do you offer urgent or short-notice alterations?

Where the diary allows, yes. If you have an important meeting, event or trip approaching, call us on 020 7250 3569 with your deadline and we will tell you straight away what is possible.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes — alterations are fitted by appointment at our Shoreditch studio, 25a Pitfield Street, London N1 6HB, so we can give you our full attention. Call 020 7250 3569 to arrange a time.

What should I bring to an alteration fitting?

Bring the garment itself, plus the shoes and any underpinnings you plan to wear with it — hems and proportions are set to how the garment will really be worn.

Do you alter wedding dresses?

Yes, through our specialist bridal service. Wedding gowns, couture and heavily embellished pieces are handled under our Bridal & Couture Alterations and Wedding Dress Alterations services, with fittings supported by our female consultants.
