Frequently Asked Questions

What styles of trousers and skirts do you make?

Clean tailored lines, fluid wide legs, relaxed pleats, pencil skirts and softer silhouettes — shaped around your proportions and how you want the garment to move.

Why do made to measure trousers fit better?

Because waist, hip, rise, length and balance are cut for your body rather than an average one. Those five measurements decide comfort and line, and off-the-peg gets to choose only one of them.

I can never find trousers that fit — can you help?

This is one of the most common reasons clients come to us. Cutting for your actual proportions solves what years of shopping could not.

What skirt shapes are possible?

Pencil, A-line, pleated, bias-cut and full — each refined through fittings so it sits correctly at the waist and moves well.

What fabrics can I choose?

Suitings, flannels, crepes, silks and seasonal cloths — selected for drape, structure and the life you will give the garment.

Can you make trousers or a skirt to match something I own?

Yes — a jacket that lost its partner, or a favourite piece that deserves a companion, can have one made around it.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes — consultations and fittings are by appointment at our Shoreditch studio, 25a Pitfield Street, London N1 6HB, so we can give you our full attention. Call 020 7250 3569 to arrange a time.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Only yourself, if you like. Reference photographs, a garment that fits well or fabric ideas are all helpful, but plenty of clients arrive with no fixed idea at all — the consultation is designed to find the right direction together.

How many fittings will I need?

Most garments are refined through two to three fittings. At each one we assess balance, comfort and movement, and you will see the piece take shape around you.

How long will my commission take?

It depends on the garment, the cloth and the fittings involved, so we will give you an honest timeline at your consultation. If you are dressing for a fixed date, tell us when you enquire and we will plan around it.
